Third Party Billing
As a courtesy to our students, Mercer will bill approved governmental / third party sponsors for student tuition and fees. Examples of approved governmental or third party sponsors include, but are not limited to:
- Foreign Governments
- State Prepaid Tuition Plans
- ROTC programs
- State Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits
- Military Tuition Assistance Programs
Any private agency, such as an employer, that is paying any portion of your tuition or fees may also be considered a third party sponsor.
Students who have a Third Party sponsor must provide the Bursar's office with a billing authorization form, financial guarantee or other form of purchase order from the sponsor that clearly states the extent and scope of the sponsorship no later than close of business on the last day of the drop/add period.
Third Party Billing Requirements
All third party forms or contracts MUST include the following:
- Student Name
- Student Mercer ID number (MUID)
- Specific charges and semesters the sponsor will cover (i.e. tuition only, tuition and fees, etc.)
- Sponsor billing address
- Name, signature and contact information for person authorizing the contract
Upon receipt of your paperwork your account will be transferred to our Third Party Billing Specialist. A direct bill will be mailed to your third party guarantor after the close of the drop/add period. All third party payments are made directly to Mercer. If third party billing is only paying a portion of tuition and fees, the student is liable to pay the balance due. If you are unable to pay this remaining balance in full, please consider enrolling in our Monthly Payment Plan.
If payment is not received from the sponsoring agency by 30 days prior to the last day of the semester, the student will be responsible for full payment of the balance due and will not be permitted to register for subsequent semesters until all financial obligations have been fulfilled. Account balances must be cleared before the student will be allowed to participate in future registrations, graduation or to receive transcripts.
Please note that tuition reimbursement is not considered third party billing as these benefits are generally grade dependent and are paid directly to the student. If you are receiving tuition reimbursement through your employer, you may be interested in our Employer Tuition Assistance Payment Plan.
